NECA Partners with UNDP to Launch Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme 2.0
In a bold move to tackle youth unemployment and enhance graduate employability, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to roll out the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0.
The programme, which aims to bridge the gap between education and industry, was officially launched by Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the State House, Abuja.
What the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) Offers
The NJFP is a flagship initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria, supported by the European Union (EU) and the UNDP. It was designed to help young Nigerian graduates gain meaningful work experience through 12-month, fully funded job placements across the private, public, and development sectors.
Each selected Fellow receives a ₦150,000 monthly stipend, mentorship, and hands-on training to develop critical workplace and entrepreneurial skills — all funded by the programme.

NECA’s Role in Empowering Young Graduates
According to Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director General of NECA, the association will play a major role in connecting employers to qualified Fellows.
He noted that NECA will co-lead a National Job Fair during the launch event, bringing together top employers from multiple industries to interact directly with NJFP Fellows and discuss potential placements.
Oyerinde added that NECA aims to place 20,000 trained Fellows across its extensive employer network, ensuring maximum private-sector participation and real employment outcomes.
Building the Workforce of the Future
NECA will also work closely with the NJFP team to ensure that training programmes align with industry needs and sector-specific skill demands. By advising on future labour trends and emerging skills, NECA intends to make sure Nigerian graduates stay relevant and competitive in the evolving job market.
The partnership reinforces the shared vision of both NECA and UNDP to create sustainable jobs, reduce unemployment, and boost Nigeria’s economic growth through youth empowerment.
Requirements for Nigerian citizen
Fresh graduate (bachelor’s degree or HND Certificate) from any discipline and graduated not earlier than 2022.
Graduated with at least a Second-Class Lower (2.2) for bachelor’s degree or Upper Credit (> 3.00) for HND Certificate holders.
30 years old or younger.
Not currently engaged in any employment.
Completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) OR have a certificate of exemption from the NYSC.
Demonstrate interest/commitment in chosen career field.
Demonstrate interest/commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Excellent time management and a professional attitude.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
