Tottenham Hotspur a deadline to trigger the option-to-buy clause for 28-year-old Germany forward.

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a deadline to trigger Timo Werner’s option-to-buy clause, with RB Leipzig said to be pushing Spurs for an answer.

Werner secured his Premier League return during the January transfer window, joining from Bundesliga outfit Leipzig on a loan deal until the end of the current campaign.

However, having impressed so far during his short spell in north London, there is talk of Tottenham activating Werner’s option-to-buy clause.

If so, it would cost Spurs a modest £14.5million - a snip of the fees both Leipzig (£25million) and Chelsea (£45million) spent on him in recent transfer windows.

But, the capital club have been dealt an ultimatum by the German club, as it’s reported by The Daily Mirror that Leipzig are demanding an answer on Werner’s future prior to this summer’s European Championships.

It’s claimed if Tottenham delay their decision beyond the previously informed date, they will still be able to sign him in the summer transfer window, but it could end up costing them more money.
